Frequently Asked Questions

The Pierce County Democratic Central Committee (PCDCC) is a service organization chartered to serve you…progressive thinkers; members; Democrats; candidates; Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs); and local, regional, statewide, and federal office holders. If these questions and answers do not meet your issues, please Contact us with your concerns.

Q: Who is eligible for membership in the PCDCC?
A: Regular members include elected or appointed Pierce County Democratic Precinct Committee Officers; elected officers of the Central Committee; and Executive Board Members of the Central Committee. Associate members with privilege of voice but no vote include any Democrat elected by the voters of and serving in Pierce County and any member of the Democratic National Committee residing within Pierce County. Anyone can attend PCDCC meetings and will generally be given voice privileges.

Following the biennial reorganization meeting, membership is open to all residents of Pierce County who assert themselves to be Democrats and pay the requisite membership dues. Those members shall have full voice and vote except where state law, these Bylaws or the Bylaws or Charter of the Washington State Democratic Party restrict such to Precinct Committee Officers. Membership terminates immediately prior to the next biennial reorganization meeting. Dues shall be established by the PCDCC Executive Board at the first meeting following reorganization. New memberships will not be accepted at regular or special Central Committee meetings until the conclusion of all business.

Q: What is the requirement for and cost of annual dues?
A: Payment of annual dues in the amount of $40.00 (we promote a larger amount, Donate) is encouraged for all members. Payment of dues is not a requirement for granting rights and privileges to Regular members of the Central Committee.

Q: Who is eligible to run for officer positions in the PCDCC?
A: Any voter registered in Pierce County is eligible to run for officer positions in the PCDCC.

Q: Do you have any paid positions?
A: All members and officers of the PCDCC are volunteers. We have no openings for paid employees at this time.Contact us.

Q: Do you endorse and support candidates; and if so, how do I get an endorsement?
A: We endorse and support (see Services) progressive candidates for Pierce County offices, statewide offices, Pierce County US House of Representatives district races, Washington State US Senatorial races, and Presidential races. Registered candidates may fill in one of our Candidate Endorsement Request Forms soliciting our endorsement. We will follow up with those whom we deem qualified. Please Contact us for further information.
