Other Organizations

Across Pierce County we have many fabulous organizations that might peak your interest. Some are affiliated with national movements, state movements or locally. If you have a passion and are looking for people that share that passion, look through this list of groups and organizations. We have a lot going on right here in Pierce County, Washington!

Some of these groups have websites, some are on Facebook, some only have emails...but the links provided are to help you reach out. Please contact us if you can't access one of the entities or if a link is bad. Many of these organizations have groups or pages on Facebook, or can be found on Twitter and Instagram. Use your searching skills with those sites and take a look. We listed the public facing aspect for each group that had a website and info email.

Environmental

350 Tacoma: 350 Tacoma is a local independent group of 350.org, an international grassroots movement working in collaboration with others to solve the climate crisis. Email 350 Tacoma

Sierra Tatoosh: is a team of volunteers and part of the Washington State Chapter of the Sierra Club. We represent over 2000 members in Pierce County

WCV (Washington Conservation Voters): We're the political voice for the environmental movement! You can sign up for email updates, find candidates to support or learn about actions.

Political Action/Education

Washington Action Network: a nonprofit political organization that is making democracy work one person at a time.

 

PCYD (Pierce County Young Democrats): We believe in the potential of youth and our ability to affect change in our community through active involvement in the political system

Pierce County Chapter of Washington Federation of Democratic Women: Local women empowering local women and non-binary persons to engage in politics. Women should be in all places decisions are made.

Emerge Washington: Emerge inspires Democratic women to run for public office, and hones their skills to win. Emerge America and our 22 Emerge affiliates share one mission: To increase the number of Democratic women leaders from diverse backgrounds in public office through recruitment, training and providing a powerful network. South Sound Women's Leadership: is a collective of progressive women & allies whose purpose is to transfer political power to under represented communities.•Indivisible Plus Washington: is a state-wide organization focused on voter engagement and turn out, combating disinformation, combating system oppression and the support and amplification of groups that align with our organization focus.

Civic Action: is a grassroots effort seeking to make bold progressive change. Civic Action is a progressive advocacy organization located in Seattle, Washington. Civic Action is dedicated to empowering and emboldening progressives across the country to take direct action on the most pressing issues facing America today. Email Civic Action

OneAmerica Votes: Democracy and Justice in Action! It’s both a challenging and exciting time in our nation and our State. The demographics of our state and our country are changing, and we’re striving to ensure that immigrant and refugee communities are shaping the future, holding candidates and elected officials accountable, and build the political capacity of our communities. Human & Worker Rights

Whole Washington: believes that healthcare should be universal, accessible, affordable, not for profit, publicly funded, comprehensive and fully realized through legislation. Email Whole Washington

Lawyers Against Systemic Racism: Lawyers in Tacoma, Washington who want to effectuate meaningful change within the legal system to end systemic racism. Email LASR

Working Washington: We unite working people around the vision that everyone should be able to support themselves, afford the basics and contribute to the economy.

Washington State Labor Council: We are more than 600 union locals and councils representing approximately 500,000 rank-and-file union members throughout the State of Washington. We are building coalitions with other advocates for better jobs, health care, apprenticeship and education, civil rights, senior citizens, affordable housing, immigration reform and a sustainable environment.

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project: NWIRP strives for justice and equity for all persons, regardless of where they were born. Each year, we provide direct legal assistance in immigration matters to over 10,000 low-income people from over 150 countries, speaking over 60 different languages and dialects.

Tenants Union of Washington: fights for housing justice through education, organizing and advocacy. We win victories that change people's housing conditions and people's lives for the better.

 

Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness: A network which shares ideas, concerns and resources applicable to homeless issues and foster collaboration in addressing their needs in Pierce County. Email PC Homeless

 

La Resistencia: Supporting those facing detention & deportation inside the NWDC to end all detentions & deportations. Apoyando a les que enfrentan detención y deportación en NWDC y acabar con todas las detenciones y deportaciones. Email La Resistencia

 

The Black Collective: Arising out of Tacoma, Washington’s civil rights struggle in the 1960s, the Black Collective is a volunteer leadership organization engaged in addressing issues affecting the black community of Tacoma and Pierce County.

 

Tacoma Mutual Aid Collective: TMAC works in solidarity with Tacoma communities to support resource, knowledge, and skill sharing across our neighborhoods. Email TMAC

 

Latinx Unidos of the South Sound: LUSS's El objetivo de los Latino Town Halls es para poder ver como la communidad puede servir a los Latinos de Tacoma. The group began with the main objective of conducting Latino Town Halls. The group's core members then organized into the Latinx Unidos of the South Sound. Email LUSS

Red Scarf Revolution: aims to bring silenced art, culture, language, and the darkest tragedy in the history of the Cambodian people to light with designs that incite the resilience of the Cambodian people. Email Red Scarf Revolution

 

The People's Assembly: Building a cross-cultural and intersectional movement grounded in anti-racism and directed at advancing Black liberation and social justice for all. Email The People's Assembly 253

 

Washington Physicians for Social Reponsibility: Called to Heal: Guided by the values and expertise of medicine and public health, Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility engages the community to create a healthy, peaceful, just, and sustainable world. Email WashingtonRSR

Pierce County Labor Council: We are one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. We are democratically elected bodies dedicated to represent the interests of working people at the state and local level. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people—regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.

HPE•Indivisible Tacoma: is a progressive, nonpartisan community of citizen lobbyists dedicated to protecting our nation's values and principles through grassroots, political action to resist the Trump agenda and similar ideals. We're active in the 27th Legislative District (Tacoma) and the 28th Legislative District (University Place, Fir Crest, Lakewood, DuPont, Steilacoom, and parts of Tacoma). Email Indivisible Tacoma
